Tebow gets in on Super Bowl Sunday action

Super Bowl betting is the most interactive time of the year for online betting players, as they can bet on not only what’s on the field, but off the field as well. There’s a controversy brewing around Tim Tebow, the Heisman-winning quarterback out of the University of Florida, and maybe this was just to take the attention off his poor performance in the Senior Bowl.

Tebow, who is well known for his Christian beliefs (he put Bible verses in his eyeblack before each game at Florida), will air a pro-life commercial during the Super Bowl which also features Tebow’s mother Pam, who was advised to abort Tebow before he was born. Focus on the Family is the group that set this up, and there’s a prop bet on whether CBS will censor the commercial. Some would say that is a violation of Tebow’s freedom of speech.

My question is, why is Tebow even doing this? You don’t see womens’ groups buying air time during the Super Bowl for pro-choice advertisements. The demographic that will be watching the Super Bowl likely won’t care for it, and it certainly doesn’t seem like the right forum for a discussion on abortion. Everyone has their beliefs, and that’s great, but there is a time and a place, and the Super Bowl isn’t the time or the place for this type of discussion. This could also hurt his draft status as teams aren’t going to want that type of distraction in their locker room, as well as a player who seems to push his beliefs on others. Maybe he should spend some time working on his mechanics after his terrible showing in the Senior Bowl.
